The Professor of Cambridge University, UK Charles Jones has gifted to the Department of International Relations, University of Sindh his books after retirement in fulfillment of a promise he had made a few years back during his visit to the varsity.
The Department of International Relations guided by the varsity management has established a book corner in Dr. Jones’s name in recognition of his selfness and magnanimous gesture; which was inaugurated by SU-VC Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat on Tuesday.
Registering his reflections on the occasion, Dr. Burfat said that Dr. Jones had come to University of Sindh in 2001 and had pledged to Dr. Mehtab Ali Shah, the then Chairman of the department to donate all his books to the varsity after he retired.
He greatly appreciated this noble act of Dr. Jones, saying this was how the academic heroes served the world. He said it was then the duty of faculty and students of IR to take the maximum benefit of the rare treasure trove of knowledge brought to them by Dr. Jones and never to let it rust and rot. Those who attended the inaugural ceremony included Prof. Dr. Nagina Parveen Soomro, Dr. Naghma Mangrio, Dr. Ghulam Akbar Mahesar, Dr. Yasmeen Yousif Pardesi and Dr. Mehtab Ali Shah.
